About

Annual contributions represent the driving force of Iowa Athletics and allow the department to achieve its vision in providing first class experiences for our student-athletes on the field, in the classroom and in life. The annual fund generates $17 - $20 million every year to support more than 600 student-athletes that represent the University of Iowa. Annual funds are used for scholarships, academic services, team travel, housing, training facilities, medical treatment, nutrition, uniforms and all other expenses associated with being a Hawkeye student-athlete.

Benefit Levels

I-Club Membership Levels & Benefits

Each year, thousands of Hawkeye fans provide financial support to Our Hawkeyes through the I-Club (the UI Department of Intercollegiate Athletics' annual giving program). Members of the I-Club receive benefits annually at the levels noted in the chart.

Members of the I-Club receive all donor benefits up to and including those listed at their giving level.

Priority Points

In keeping with the spirit of Hawkeye loyalty, and in recognition of the generosity of those who are helping the Hawkeyes each year, the UI Department of Intercollegiate Athletics developed a priority points system that is fair, orderly, and includes Hawkeye fans in the process of selecting their football, men's basketball and women's basketball, and wrestling season ticket locations.

110% Hawkeye

In 2019, 950 individuals increased their gift by 10% or more! That extra 10% was an additional $1.94M in revenue for Iowa Athletics. You too can rise to the challenge for Hawkeye student-athletes and become a 110% Hawkeye by increasing your support by 10%.

Matching Gifts

Please note the following important facts about matching gifts:

  • Most matching gift companies will only match the charitable or tax deductible portion of a contribution. I-Club recognition and priority point credit will only be applied to one's account once the matching gift itself is received and processed.
  • June 30 is the priority seating and parking deadline for football and men's basketball. A matching gift will only count in your I-Club recognition and point total if your company's gift has been received by this date.
  • Know your company's matching gift policy. Learn about which causes it will and will not support, its deadlines, and its fulfillment periods. Each of these items could impact you.
  • If your company's policy states it will not match gifts to athletics then the University of Iowa Center for Advancement cannot submit your request. The Center for Advancement is obligated to acknowledge and abide by the unique policies of each company's matching gift program.
  • If you decline all benefits associated with your contribution to athletics, including I-Club recognition and priority points, your contribution is fully tax deductible. Please consult with your employer to determine if you qualify for a company match based on that information.

Note:

Following the passage of the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act ("Tax Reform Act"), effective 1/1/2018, changes were made to IRC 170(l) eliminating the 80% charitable deduction previously allowed for federal income tax purposes. Some states may address charitable deductibility for athletic contributions differently. Please consult your own tax advisor for applicability of federal and state tax regulations.
